What is Clubhouse, and how do you get an invite?

Clubhouse is the new social networking platform that really has got people talking. It is an invitation-only audio-chat app that was launched in April 2020 by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth of Alpha Exploration Co.

The platform is focussed around audio-chat. Users can listen in to conversations, interviews and discussions between fascinating people, including influential entrepreneurs, politicians and celebrities. Think – listening to a podcast, but live - and with an added layer of exclusivity.


However, the catch is that Clubhouse is invite-only. You're unable to just download it, make an account straight away and get started - you have to be invited to join by an existing member.


Upon joining, you can select your areas of interest which range vastly, covering key areas: Places, Identity, Arts, Knowledge, Entertainment, Hanging Out, Tech and more, and these interests help to better curate your 'Hallways' (aka. timeline).


Once your profile is complete, you're able to start interacting. On your Hallway, you will find the top three to five rooms Clubhouse recommends for you.

Now - you might be asking, what are the real benefits?


Well, it's no secret that networking events have come to an abrupt halt, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic - and Clubhouse offers the exciting opportunity to network with people that you may never come across before.


As Clubhouse is a global platform, you're able to listen to some really fascinating topics that can help to inspire, motivate or inform you. It also gives the opportunity to ask questions to industry experts in what is quite an intimate setting. On top of this, any Clubhouse user can start a room about a topic they find interesting, opening the room up to guests and deciding who gets to speak.


As with any social media app, Clubhouse doesn’t guarantee success in your business goals, but it can be a valuable tool if you use it wisely. Opportunities to share your brand story, connect with customers, get product feedback, run impromptu focus groups, and generate marketing awareness are ready for the taking on Clubhouse.
