Campaign Lead | Communications Strategy | Stakeholder Engagement | Public Health Messaging
The ‘Take the Pressure Off’ campaign was created to raise awareness of high blood pressure across Somerset and encourage residents to ‘know their numbers’. As Communications Manager and campaign lead, the focus was on making blood pressure checks feel easy, accessible and part of everyday life.

What we delivered
Clear, accessible public health messaging
We developed a communications strategy that increased understanding of the risks of hypertension while emphasising the importance of early detection. Messaging was designed to be simple, relatable and reassuring, reducing the stigma often associated with health checks.
Multi-channel awareness campaign
Residents were signposted to a range of easy ways to get their blood pressure checked — at local community pharmacies, pop-up events, or at home using personal monitors. This approach allowed us to meet people where they already were and remove barriers to participation.
Partnership-driven delivery
Working closely with healthcare teams, community organisations and local stakeholders, we ensured the campaign was grounded in real community insight and delivered through trusted local voices.
Impact
The campaign empowered residents to take practical steps to protect their health, boosted awareness of hypertension across Somerset, and demonstrated the power of prevention-focused communications. Rooted in simplicity and genuine community impact, it remains a project we are extremely proud of.
